We are honored that you have chosen to further your arts education at the Houston Academy of Dramatic Arts. Houston Academy of Dramatic Arts (HADA) is committed to offering you the best training for all your creative needs.

**PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:  ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Tuition is non-refundable and only transferable when a written cancellation notice is received by Houston Academy of Dramatic Arts 7 business days prior to the beginning of the class semester. Such credit is only good for 6 months.  The tuition is NOT prorated based on student attendance.  This is NOT a week by week program.

The Academy reserves the right to cancel a class without advance notice. In the event that such right is exercised, all monies are refundable.  The refund does not apply when the class is postponed, only when it is cancelled.  The Academy reserves the right to postpone a class until further notice.

The core curriculum teaches acting techniques, improvisation, monologue, scene study and auditioning. This program begins with monologue development moving into scene study/character work, advancing into more technically demanding scene study which increases all levels of skill. A performance is given to an invited audience at the end of each semester.

2010 Spring Semester begins January 18, 2010 - May 17, 2010

In this series actors will study acting, voice, diction, movement, rhythm and style.  Actors will learn the meaning and emotion of the text, how to discover the thought process within the speech and how to physically be at ease doing Shakespeare.  In this class actors will pay attention to analyzing text, developing a character, exploring their voice and appropriate acting techniques from absolute stillness to grandiose gestures.  A performance is given to an invited audience at the end of each semester.

The core curriculum teaches film and acting techniques using scripts from film and television, practical on-camera experience with peer review, exercising of real life situations using improvisation and acting techniques. The actors will collaborate on a film script through improvisation. Students will also collaborate with industry professionals and complete a body of work on film.

SUMMER CAMP

June 7-18, 2010

In this camp young film makers get to create their own short film and premier it for their family, friends, cast and crew. HADA offers and integrated program of both production and acting.  Student film makers will learn to tell a clear story with a a beginning, middle and end.  Students will have hands on classes in directing, writing, cinematography and production to cover the creative and technical demands of telling a astory with moving images.  Everyone writes and directs his or her own short film.  Each student is placed into a small production crew under the supervision and guidance of their instructor.

MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP

July 5-9, 2010

The Process of auditioning in a professional venue is thrilling.  All students will experience how to audition for musical theatre including vocal, dance, and acting auditions.  All students are encouraged to attempt all three.  Each participant works with the resident choreographer, vocal director, and director and parts area assigned in the production. All camp participants are cast in the production and learn the most important principle, "There are no small parts!"  Summer theatre programs include musical theatre, design and technology, repretory theatre, acting and more.

Young actors will dive into theatre in the three week camp. Actors work on acting, improvisation, stage make-up, stage combat and production. Actors will explore all the moving parts which make a theatrical production come alive. Actors are involved in a working production which includes writing, costumes, lighting, sound and set design.

Actors leave camp with self-assurance while developing an appreciation for being a part of a team!

With private acting lessons, you can learn acting skills from a professional who will give you one-on-one attention and ensure that you grasp each new skill before moving on to the next lesson.

Private lessons are also a great place to prepare material for any audition.

Private acting lessons work well in conjunction with your acting classes and also stands alone as a superb training option. Acting coaching is available on a regular basis.
