Professional Dramatic Arts Program
The Program investigates all components of the acting profession. The approach is to introduce students to a wide variety of acting disciplines. The conservatory emphasizes self-discovery, as well as, intellectual, physical and emotional development to create a sound technique

 

The program allows the student time to test, to play, and very importantly, to find comfort on stage or screen.Acting is doing

Professional Series - Meets Tuesday's and Thursday's from 7-9 p.m. CLICK HERE TO ENROLL NOW!

  • The core curriculum teaches acting techniques, improvisation, monologue, scene study and auditioning. This program begins with monologue development moving into scene study/character work, advancing into more technically demanding scene study which increases all levels of skill. A performance is given to an invited audience at the end of each semester. Cost is only $14.52 per hour.

Shakespeare- Meets Monday's from 7-9 p.m. CLICK HERE TO ENROLL NOW!

  • In this series actors will study acting, voice, diction, movement, rhythm and style.  Actors will learn the meaning and emotion of the text, how to discover the thought process within the speech and how to physically be at ease doing Shakespeare.  In this class actors will pay attention to analyzing text, developing a character, exploring their voice and appropriate acting techniques from absolute stillness to grandiose gestures.  Cost is only $11.25 per hour.

Scene Study - Meets Wednesday's from 7-9 p.m. THIS IS AN AUDITION ONLY CLASS.

  • Scene Study is designed to challenge actors to RAISE THE BAR and further understand the actor’s craft.  Actors will apply analysis to scene work with an emphasis on realism while exploring new depths and soaring to new heights in their acting as they “work out” with other committed actors.We will focus on techniques of character development, (internal & external) discover given circumstances, subtext and sustaining, through creation, a real emotional involvement.  Actors work on techniques and acting exercises from Meisner, Hagen and Adler. These skills will be used to create an organic, grounded, honest connection to the scene and audience by deepening the ability to live truthfully within a compelling set of imaginary circumstances. Cost is only $11.25 per hour.

 

Entertainment Business Series - By appointment only

  • As a student at the Academy you are eligible to book time with faculty to discuss the ‘business’ knowledge to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Guidance is offered concerning wise investments, savings, unions, resumes, photographs, auditions, agents, casting directors and all other matters related to the development of a career in theater, television or film.

Students test and are tested on their developing abilities through increasingly diverse and challenging roles.

 

Students who complete the program will gain a unique perspective on world theatre and learn how to define their own places in the professional community.
